Date Nights: Our Favorite TV Shows

Husband and I love to watch our favorite TV shows during the week!  We grab a bottle of wine, snuggle up with little Kate and enjoy some good old fashioned telly.  Admittedly, we watch way too many shows this season.  I literally have a list of 10-15 shows that we regularly tune in for on weeknights.  We usually watch via DVR, but our absolute favorites get watched live most of the time!

I won’t bore you with the list of 10-15 shows, so I’m going to list OUR top 5 only!  We each have our own favorites, but we can both agree on these Top 5.

1. How I Met Your Mother

This is our #1 favorite show because it’s just so dang funny coupled with an awesome storyline.  We’ve been watching for years and cannot wait to find out who Ted’s wife ends up being!  Husband loves guessing and putting the clues together.  He has a good memory for that sort of thing…I am glad he’s around to remind me of the little obscure details from TV shows.  Hehe!

2. New Girl

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Zooey Deschanel and as such, LOVE New Girl.  Husband loves Zooey for different reasons (i.e. he thinks she’s hot), but I know he likes her sense of humor too.  This show is just so funny in every sense.  The play between Jess, Nick, Schmidt, Winston & Cece is just classic.  Schmidt always has us both rolling on the floor with laughter!

3. Revenge

We have two fabulous sitcoms in our Top 5, so it’s only natural to throw a sweet drama in there too!  Revenge definitely fits the profile of a great drama.  This is perfect for Sunday nights when gearing up for the work week.  We love Emily’s crazy vendetta and the nonsense that goes on around her in the Hamptons.  Being from Chicago, I’d like to believe that if we ever vacationed on the Hamptons, we’d better watch our backs!  I’m also really happy to see Emily VanCamp back after Brothers & Sisters.  I was so sad to see that show go, but glad to see her back in such a great new role!

4. Parenthood

This is my personal #1 favorite show, but due to Husband’s somewhat ambivalent attitude toward it, it has fallen into the #4 slot here.  I cannot say enough great things about this show.  Every single storyline tugs at my heartstrings in one way or another.  I think I cried when Skittles were pouring over Max during his latest vending machine victory with the help of his amazing mother!  I mean, Skittle rain made me cry!  I also adore Victor’s adoption storyline.  The scene in the season finale last night in the courtroom was so perfect.  If we have four children, I’d want them to be just like Julia, Crosby, Adam, & Sarah!  I really hope Parenthood comes back for Season 5 (has it really been that long?!!)!

5. Nashville

Since I love Country music, and force Husband to love it too, we both love this show!  It’s the perfect amount of drama and country music.  I love that Connie Britton and Hayden Panettierre sing all of their songs on this show.  They are truly the perfect two to play Rayna and Juliette.  How about Scarlett?!  Girlfriend can sing!  I’m currently rockin’ out to the soundtrack as Husband bought it for me a few days ago…how awesome is he?!  I’m interested to see how this show pans out…lots of love drama unfolding!

I used to glorify "busy." If I wasn't busy, I wasn't doing enough. But when I became a mama, my entire outlook shifted.

The only way out involved a complete overhaul of my time, money & communication systems.

Today, I'm doing LESS and achieving more.

It's a productivity dream!

I'm still learning (and always will be!), but my purpose here is to help YOU achieve this level of space in your life too.
