That Darn 365 Project Again…

Once upon a time, exactly one year ago today, the following words came out of my mouth:

“This will be the year I complete a 365! I feel it! I’m committed!”

As a caveat, I was vacationing in Barbados / St. Vincent & the Grenadines…drinking many a bushwhacker (pina colada with chocolate sauce). Exactly 8 months later, my 365 became a 243. Not quite the same ring.

Day 1 – July 1, 2012: flying over the Caribbean from Barbados to Palm Island

My first 365 attempt was January 1, 2011 and I didn’t make it through February. I blamed it on the cold and boring life we led during the Chicago winter. There’s only so much you can do outside with a 4-month old miniature dachshund in the City (read: she hated the outdoors).

On the second try, I made it through an entire eight months before throwing in the towel and I have only myself to blame. I did take photos in March, but one day skipped led to three more and I simply couldn’t stand it anymore so I decided to call it complete as of February 28th. My photography rut was too intense. The only cause of derailment I can think of is my creative energies were going straight into writing my nearly 100-page Business 101 photography business workshop. I suppose the human brain can only handle so much!

Day 243 – February 28, 2013: Katie Bug actin’ all dramatic.

Anyway, I’m going to attempt another 365. I hope I make it to June 30, 2014 or beyond! I’ve decided to make a few changes with how I manage my third attempt at a 365.

1.  I will only use my iPhone for images. I’m on my phone daily…NO excuse!

2.  I will not pressure myself. If I feel a rut coming on, I’ll default to randomly picking a color or word to prompt me towards an image.

3.  I will tag all of my images with #kateandtrudy365 and keep a feed here on the blog – accountability y’all!

4. I’ll check in monthly with progress. More accountability!

Make sure to follow me on Instagram to stay up to date! I really may need some good lovin’ towards the winter months. Third time’s a charm, right?!

productivity for working moms

welcome!

I'm Jessica!

I used to glorify "busy." If I wasn't busy, I wasn't doing enough. But when I became a mama, my entire outlook shifted.

The only way out involved a complete overhaul of my time, money & communication systems.

Today, I'm doing LESS and achieving more.

It's a productivity dream!

I'm still learning (and always will be!), but my purpose here is to help YOU achieve this level of space in your life too.
