We couldn’t be more thrilled to confirm that, in fact, our little Trudy Bear was born on Friday, August 2.
She currently lives in Joshua, TX where Paula & Jeff Hall of Dachshund Hall are taking wonderful care of her.
Her mama, Image, is tiny at 9 pounds. This little lady carried 5 pups! Amazing.
According to Paula, “Image is very laid back. She minds well and is very sweet. She will always move your hand so you will pet her…spoiled!”
Image sounds just like Katie Bug, whose nose always nudges our hand when she wants to be loved!
Paula says Trudy’s 11 pound daddy, Sawyer, “is very smart and lovable. He gets along great with all the other dogs and is our WATER dog! On hot days he will dive into the pool, swim out a ways and then swim back to the steps. He will sit on the top step to keep cool.”
Dang, no pool here in Chicago (jealous!) but we do frequent Lake Geneva, WI and my parent’s boat a lot…will Trudy be our water dog just like her daddy? Better get another life vest for next summer!
She has 3 adorable little sisters and 1 totally outnumbered brother.
Either Nestle or Godiva will become Trudy in about 3.5 weeks. We personally don’t have any opinion other than we wanted her to be as chocolatey as possible! Paula & Jeff will be choosing between Nestle and Godiva as well, so Trudy will have little puppy nieces or nephews some day. She’ll be the cool party girl aunt that lets her sister’s pups stay up all night (just kidding)! I can’t wait to find out if our little bear is Nestle or Godiva. It’s almost better that we don’t have to choose between the two. How do you even make a decision like that?!
Anyway, the official date of pick-up is Saturday, September 28, 2013. I’ll fly down to Dallas-Fort Worth in the morning with a 4.5 hour window of time before my flight back to Chicago that evening. Paula & Jeff will meet me at the airport with Trudy and she’ll snuggle cozily into the same little travel crate we bought for Katie Bug nearly 3 years ago. I’m so lucky to have had 28,000 miles on American Airlines set to expire in January. It’s fate that they were ready to roll with this day trip to pick up our munchkin.
I seriously can’t wait. Husband has been researching new puppy foods and so many other doggie-related awesomeness the last few days. We’re both THRILLED to be puppy-parents again. Kate is still pretty uncertain when Trudy’s name is mentioned…but she’s snuggling a lot more with us these days!
Is this how it feels to have real babies? It can’t possibly be any better!
