Cuteness Overload Alert // Dachshund Hall {a feature}

I could not end Puppy Week without paying tribute to Paula & Jeff at Dachshund Hall. They have taken such great care of little Trudy these last eight weeks and we’re so grateful! If you’re considering adopting a miniature dachshund puppy, please contact Paula & Jeff – they’ll take great care of your little one – and you!

I asked Paula to answer a few questions for me, as well as to send me her favorite photos over the years of some Dachshund Hall doggies. After receiving 455 ADORABLE photos of every type of miniature dachshund you can think of (Paula is obviously proud of her dogs), I knew this would be the perfect Friday read. Enjoy this feature on Trudy’s family in Texas: Dachshund Hall!

How many years has Dachshund Hall been around?

Since 1990.

When did you first know you wanted to breed miniature dachshunds?

My first dachshund was a red smooth male named Schultz. I bought him in 1988 as a companion pet but as time went on I thought he needed a friend so I bought a female black & tan smooth named Sadie. Schultz & Sadie became more than just friends and became a breeding pair. I had my first litter of smooths in 1990… the beginning of what has become Dachshund Hall today.

What’s Dachshund Hall’s history over the last 23 years?

I bred dachshunds in Texas from 1990 until 2005 when I moved to North Carolina to help take care of my elderly mother. I continued breeding in NC and fell in love with the cream dachshunds so I geared my breeding program to specialize in the exquisite creams. After my mother passed away we moved back to Texas in 2010.

We have now added the wire coat into our program and they are definitely the clowns of the breed. We can now produce smooths, longs, wires, and silky wires in black, red, chocolate, and cream in solids, dapples, and piebalds.

What are you most proud of in your breeding program?

I am most proud of my creams. They are from excellent import lines with many champions in their pedigrees.

What’s your favorite Dachshund personality trait and why?

There are a lot of traits that I like but I think my favorite is that of the wires…GOOFY!

Now, on to Trudy. Tell us something notable about her.

Trudy is the most rich, deep chocolate pup we have ever produced.

Trudy again!

What’s her most dominant trait as a 7 week old puppy?

She’s good at chewing on her brother and sister’s ears, tails, and legs!

Does she take more after the personality of her mom (Image) or dad (Sawyer)?

I think she has a nice mix of both mom and dad.

Sawyer is very social and loves people. Image is very laid back and sweet. I think she looks more like her mother though.

What’s your best guesstimate on her full-grown size?

Sawyer weighs 11 pounds and Image weighs 9 pounds. I would guesstimate that Trudy will weigh around 9 or 10 pounds when fully grown. All the pups in this litter are on the smaller side.

How well has she been getting along with the other puppies and full-grown dogs?

She gets along great with her siblings. They are either playing or sleeping.

When I clean their corral I put them on our kitchen floor and they play with the adults. Our adults are used to having puppies around so it isn’t a big deal to them when the pups tug on their ears and tails to play.

Thank you SO MUCH, Paula, for sharing the Dachshund Hall history and your amazing program. We love the bit about Trudy chewing her brother, sisters, and the older pups – Kate’s pretty worried about Trudy’s needle teeth. Ha!

I’m so excited to see you tomorrow at DFW! Thank you so much for meeting me at the airport so I could fly there and back in one day. I appreciate your accommodation so much and seriously cannot WAIT to have Trudy in my arms.

Follow #TrudyToChicago tomorrow on Instagram & Twitter for up to the minute details of pick up day happenings!

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the amazing Dachshund Hall pups & dogs!

productivity for working moms

welcome!

I'm Jessica!

I used to glorify "busy." If I wasn't busy, I wasn't doing enough. But when I became a mama, my entire outlook shifted.

The only way out involved a complete overhaul of my time, money & communication systems.

Today, I'm doing LESS and achieving more.

It's a productivity dream!

I'm still learning (and always will be!), but my purpose here is to help YOU achieve this level of space in your life too.
