I’m so excited to welcome one of my darling sponsors, Kate from Like American Honey, today on the blog to guest post for Puppy Week! She’s a wife and mama to two fur babies, Max & Maybelle, and has some great puppy words of wisdom to share with us today, as well as some adorable photos of her little ones. Take it away, Kate!
I am blessed to say that I not only share my life with my wonderful husband but with two adorable little doggies. Maybelle was originally my dog that I adopted a little over two years ago (time flies!) We got Max only a few months ago but couldn’t be happier to have two little fur monsters now. I’ve learned a lot from both of the dogs, and I’m so excited to hear everything Jessica has to say once Ms. Trudy joins their home!
> My patience has limits but their love is endless. It is so easy to get annoyed with house training or hope that they will just stop barking at the squirrel outside. However, whenever they come over with their darling little faces and tails wagging, it is almost impossible to stay upset.
> Dogs have personalities and feelings. Maybelle is sweet as pie while Max is more of the strong and silent type. They are SO different, but it adds such a fun dynamic to have such different personalities. Maybelle is the more sensitive of the two, and HATES whenever college football is on because it means daddy is yelling or cheering at that funny box in the basement. She is too much of a lady for that non-sense and leaves the room. Ha!
> Any bad day can be wiped away once that door is opened. I can’t even describe how amazing it is to come home to TWO wiggly, happy dogs trying to lick my face and say hello. I usually beat my husband home, and this time with the dogs is amazing.
> Dogs can be like kids. This lesson rings even more true now that we have two. Our dogs have taught us responsibility, forgiveness, and the value of discipline and consistency. Kids are not on our horizon just yet, but we often joke that the dogs are our test kids. Dogs can be a lot of work, but it is so worth it when they both decide that they need to snuggle on your lap…at the same time.
I found myself nodding and agreeing with everything she said – and we only have one dog right now! What about you? Any puppy/dog words of wisdom to share?
I seriously cannot wait to see how Kate & Trudy’s personalities mix together and how they continue to teach us more than we’d ever though to learn from a little hot dog (or two).
Hope you’re enjoying Puppy Week!
