Weekly Wishes {February 3, 2014}

Hello, February! One month closer to spring…or about 6 weeks away since Phil saw his shadow yesterday. Oh well!

We did a lot this weekend, but the highlight was bottling Hubby’s beer! Remember when he was brewing it?

We’ll have the big tasting event in two weeks. I’m really excited – Hubby’s definitely locked into this hobby and planning a whole “brew cave” for our future home. Good thing I don’t mind the brewing smell…my grandparents live next to the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Virginia so it’s a happy smell for me!

Last Week’s Wishes

Finish strong on the “No Spend” Month!

Finish strong, we did! We ended up under budget overall. We went higher on a few categories but didn’t spend in others we had planned. We’re super pumped up for repeating some of the savings opportunities in February!

Enjoy the weekend by putting away all work by Friday night.

This wasn’t too hard to accept. Ha! I only count my day job as work, so I definitely had everything tucked away all weekend.

We ended up not making it out to Michigan on Saturday for the wedding due to the weather, so we had a completely task-free day! I jumped full steam into my February Directive and made huge progress by categorizing most of my clothes. I was able to clear a handful out for sale / donation in the “first round.” I’m pretty thrilled and already feeling a bit lighter. We also watched a movie on Netflix – a fun beer-themed, Chicago-based flick with a great cast. I highly recommend “Drinking Buddies!”

As for Sunday, we did watch the (really boring) Super Bowl with beers (wine for me) & snacks. Staying true to our money saving plans, we grabbed the best of the frozen pizzas (Home Run – YUM) and some chips & guacamole. I went into the game rooting for Seattle and hubby went for Denver. Both cities are the top of our relocation list, so we decided to split it 50/50. I’m happy to have chosen the winning team, even though there wasn’t much competition after all. Ha!

This Week’s Wishes

Finish Categorizing all clothing.

I got through about 75% of the types of clothing I have this past Saturday. I hope to finish the rest this week!

This entails sorting by type (leggings all in one area, for example), and completing a first round purge. Next action will be a second round purge…but we’ll see if I actually decide to get rid of that much…this first round is reducing about 50% of my closet! I’m just excited to be sending so much of my unworn clothing to better use.

Be creative in Seattle.

Yep – I’m flying to Seattle on Thursday (another reason I chose to cheer for Seattle)! My day job is sending me out there and I’ll be working Thursday & Friday. My flight home would have been Saturday morning if not for deciding to stay until Sunday to relax a bit in my favorite city.

My plans are simple: shoot a couple rolls of film and think in a coffee shop. The thinking part will involve this blog, my Etsy shop, as well as my photography business. I have a lot of planning to do for each as we navigate the next year and Seattle is the perfect place for it.

I’ve wanted a weekend like this for a LONG time and I’m super excited it’s finally here. I love traveling with Hubby, but I need time alone too!

Thanks to my Hubby for letting me stay an extra day!

Have a great week, friends! xo

I used to glorify "busy." If I wasn't busy, I wasn't doing enough. But when I became a mama, my entire outlook shifted.

The only way out involved a complete overhaul of my time, money & communication systems.

Today, I'm doing LESS and achieving more.

It's a productivity dream!

I'm still learning (and always will be!), but my purpose here is to help YOU achieve this level of space in your life too.
