Weekly Wishes {April 14, 2014} // Rest & Organize in Seattle

I admit, last week I kind of freaked out a little. Sorry about that! I didn’t even link up because I didn’t want to bring my ‘tude to the group. Ha!

I’ll say I feel about 50% better than last Monday. This past week was still full of plenty of frustrations. Among other things, we are just so stinkin’ close to finally leaving our “limbo” situation and it feels like to get there we first need to avoid the meteor shower a la Gravity. We’ve put two years into limbo and I feel I’ve done a pretty good job overall at setting aside my Type A control freak tendencies, but enough is enough!

Anyway, the highlight of our weekend was having two of Husband’s friends from grad school up at the lake. His friend Nick couldn’t come, so it was just the girls, but we had a blast! It was fun to spend some time just hanging out and enjoying their company. We also saw the lake getting oh-so-close to melted. Hopefully summer is here in a flash, but I’m not counting my breaths.

I also have to give a special shout out to my friend all the way out in Singapore, fellow Weekly Wishes participant, Elizabeth, who got ENGAGED this weekend! Congrats girl! xo

Last Week’s Wishes

Hit the mental reset button.

Not setting any goals this past week helped so much. I tried to start each day before getting out of bed by reading a chapter or two of A Clash of Kings. By doing this, I was able to finally finish it and I felt ready to start the day with a little reading already done. Not to mention I successfully completed another portion of my 30 Before 30 goals!

I had very specific tasks to accomplish for my day job to get ready for this week in Seattle and I set some pretty strict boundaries for conference calls and such as a result. I did have to work “overtime” to get everything done, but I’m really happy with my accomplishments despite the frustrations throughout the week mentioned already.

I didn’t make it to the gym at all, unfortunately, but I did a little more walking than usual. Having the girls in town over the weekend helped as I worked all Saturday morning before they came to make sure I could have a good time when they were here!

All in all, I think another vacation is in order to decompress before Husband goes away in June for a few months to train for his new job. I’m taking the whole week off of Memorial Day and it couldn’t come soon enough!! I’m pretty sure we’ll be spending a few days in Washington D.C. for half of that week, so I’m really excited to get out of town!

This Week’s Wishes

Get some rest.

This week as I spend 4 nights in Seattle, I want to take full advantage of having no dogs or husbands in my bed. I want to work hard all day, then go to bed early and wake up early. In order to maximize my rest this week, I won’t drink any alcohol no matter how badly I want a (reimbursable) glass of wine with dinner. When I wake up, I’ll do what I started last week: read a few chapters instead of hop right onto my iPhone.

Organize BlogLovin’.

It’s really about time I go through the hundreds of blogs I follow to put them in the right categories in my feed. I really want to be a better blog reader & commenter and I’m feel overloaded with how many new posts show up in my feed all the time. I think I’ll be better at following up on what I read if I sort my blogs properly. This will be an easy task to accomplish while traveling and I’m excited to catch up on blogs I’ve loved lately and for awhile…maybe even some new ones too!

Happy Easter week to all who celebrate the holiday! xo
