hit the mental reset button {Weekly Wishes – April 7, 2014}

This week was a roller coaster. Unfortunately, it was mostly craptastic. What the H-E-double-hockey-sticks is up with this God-forsaken Chicago weather?

Saturday morning was one of the only highlights when I had the opportunity to get behind the camera again at a newborn session. I realized just how much I’ve been missing having regular sessions and really wish I could relaunch my photography business sooner rather than later. I recently stopped taking paid client sessions as we wrap up our lives here in Chicago, but I want to relaunch ASAP once we move. I mean, how can I not be happy hearing laughter like this?!

Last Week’s Wishes

Spend time at the gym.

Wouldn’t it be great if I could say I actually put 4.5 hours in at the gym last week? Make that 45 minutes. So sad. I only went on Monday which was my birthday and a day off work. Tuesday thru Friday was insane and I just couldn’t mentally break free. I’m sure a gym break would have done wonders, but I just couldn’t make it happen.

I saw a couple friends working through the 1800 minute challenge and I just signed up. Too bad I didn’t know about this last week!

This Week’s Wishes

Hit the mental reset button.

Every time I have to travel, even to my favorite cities, I die a little inside. I thrive on routine and traveling involves the exact opposite of routine. Granted, I do like getting out of my home office, but I’m headed back out to Seattle for another 5-day trip (pretty sure it’s my last). My last 5-day trip was absolutely exhausting. Monday thru Friday is a long time to spend away from home, surrounded by colleagues, when you’re used to working barefoot and in mostly silence. I leave 4/14 and return 4/18 only to drive immediately to Grand Rapids, MI for Easter weekend.

So, this week I’m not setting any specific goals. I just can’t mentally deal with goals as I spend the next few days mentally preparing for a week away! I guess my wish this week is to simply hit the mental reset button by not setting myself up for failure. Just get as much done, work hard, prepare, and relax. Next week I’m thinking of “interrupting your regularly scheduled programming” for my favorite Seattle photos feature each day. A blog break for words, if you will! LOL.
