a little life update as summer comes to a close…

I’m not sure if it’s the pregnancy, “back-to-school” mentality, work project in closeout mode, or something else, but I am feeling mega-focused to simplify.

If you’ve been around the blog for awhile, you know my word of 2014 was “simplify” and I had a whole monthly directive centered around it. I wouldn’t say I accomplished all of my monthly goals (and didn’t even set one for December) but my efforts definitely set a new tone for my life that has carried through 2015.

Unfortunately, a side effect of simplifying my life was blog neglect. Something had to give in a the world of my to do list and it ended up being the one space that gave me the courage and freedom to set these goals! I have come to terms with that fact but I’m also very, very ready to get back to sharing what I love to do…starting with: actually doing what I love to do!

Kate + Trudy say hello too!

Some things I’ve been up to lately:

> Growing a tiny human. Hard to miss this one considering the bump tracking posts that have monopolized the blog lately (23 weeks already!)

Taken on a work trip last week…in San Clemente, CA…on the pier. Ahhhh….

> Settling into our first home. I’ve been so busy behind the scenes getting our boxes unpacked, belongings sorted (and purged) and creating new spaces to display and organize what’s left. I’ve also been painting like a mad-woman since March and am nearly done!

We moved into our house with very little furniture so it’s been a slow month-to-month budget plan to both afford what we want but better yet, FIND what we want. It’s been so fun planning a space over time and not making any impulse furniture/decoration purchases. That means our dining room with bare walls and hardwood floors has been a mecca for dachshund bark echos, but we finally committed to a 9′ x 12′ area rug and look forward to more controlled noise in our future. Phew!

Purging clothes so we don’t need more dressers!

> Knocking out the program at work that has consumed me for 18 months. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t very excited to have my personal life back on a consistent basis, but I might miss the challenges and rewards that have been a part of my life for so long. I almost feel like I don’t know how to have a personal life because I’ve been so consumed! It has truly been the best program of my career – I’ve learned so much, contributed close to the max of what I’m capable of (today), and received amazing support from leadership. I’ve never felt more supported and valuable than on this program, so I’m really happy with where I am in my career and truly wouldn’t change anything, despite many unfortunate days.

I’m anxious to get back into photography and crafting, finish up this house, welcome our baby girl in December, and discover more about the Pacific Northwest, among other things.

Happy almost-end of Summer…are you as excited as I am for fall to be here soon?

productivity for working moms

welcome!

I'm Jessica!

I used to glorify "busy." If I wasn't busy, I wasn't doing enough. But when I became a mama, my entire outlook shifted.

The only way out involved a complete overhaul of my time, money & communication systems.

Today, I'm doing LESS and achieving more.

It's a productivity dream!

I'm still learning (and always will be!), but my purpose here is to help YOU achieve this level of space in your life too.
