We modern mamas deal with quite the long list of expectations, feelings & to dos, don’t we?
Mental load, as it’s also referred to, takes up so much of our mind throughout the day.
I’m sure that’s one key reason you’re here right now.
It often feels like we’re constantly navigating demands on our time from every single angle, 365 degrees, 24/7.
It’s truly a miracle that we even find time to sleep sometimes!
Or is it? Is it really a miracle when our basic needs are literally the last priority?
Before we continue …

What Does Abundance Really Mean?
Each of us show up to the table with a unique set of circumstances. There’s no denying that.
A cookie cutter approach to productivity will never work for everyone.
But when it comes to our time, we still all have 24 hours in a day.
So what sets apart the women who enjoy margin and fulfillment in their day from the ones who struggle to get out of bed in the morning because they stayed up until midnight getting things done? The ones who spend their entire day in a reactive mode?
In my attempt to narrow it down to one key thing, I always come back to abundance.
Abundance, by definition, is “a very large quantity of something.”
Knowing this, it’s easy to conjure an image of LOTS OF STUFF. An abundance of furniture in a big house with a giant backyard and tons of cash in the bank.
I mean, that’d be nice and all, but abundance knows no limits on how it can be applied to our lives. Abundance has an abundance of ways it can show up. Kinda meta, right?!
When I think of abundance, I think of margin in my schedule. An abundance of time available for filling my cup in a meaningful way.
I also think of clarity. An abundance of mental clarity available to tap into my creativity and be present in every facet of life.
Abundance does have a clear connection to material possessions, but I see minimalism and clearing clutter in all areas of my life as the largest vote for abundance. An abundance of white space.
And think about this … have you ever kept something in fear that you’d need it one day in the future? Even if you hadn’t touched it in years?
Letting go of something like that is a testament to believing that if you actually need it in the future, it’ll find its way back to you. An abundance of faith.
These are just a few examples of how abundance might actually play out in your life. I could truly go on and on.
Can you think of another example within your own life?
The One Key Question Moms Are Always Trying to Answer
Believing in the power of abundance is critical to your success with productivity and happiness in life.
Knowing how to tap into this sort of thinking is the difference between living in reaction mode and shifting towards a simplified life with greater efficiency and proactiveness.
This leads us to the age old question, my own Carrie Bradshaw moment … could we really have it all?
Could we, as mothers, really have it all?
The house. The money. The happy family. Loving marriage. The career?
At the end of the day, my personal productivity vision is to simplify my life to the point where I’m gifted with an abundance of time available to spend in a meaningful way. And that’s my goal for you too.
We already covered 4 important pillars of productivity, so when I say “can we have it ALL,” I really mean, can we have ALL that we ACTUALLY want based on our vision and individual desires?
What I want in life may look very different from what you want.
But the path to getting there is the same for both of us.
Shifting into an Abundance Mindset for Productivity
It’s the knowledge that you actually CAN get there. That the place on the map actually exists and is yours for the taking.
Is it clear yet that abundance is directly related to your mindset?
That’s why we’re ending our series with this incredibly important pillar.
Because not everyone is ready to shift their mindset.
Maybe you’re afraid of what success might ACTUALLY look like … will it be different than what you thought? Is it harder to reach than you thought? Is it the most amazing thing ever that leads you to regret not starting earlier? What if you fail? What if everything you’ve already worked for ends up not being relevant?
I’m 100% right there with you. All of the questions I just listed have come across my mind repeatedly over the years.
So you should know that I’m walking this journey with you, friend. Don’t mistake me for someone who has it all figured out.
I mean … what fun would that be?!
We both know that change can be so difficult. Putting faith in something you can’t see is even harder.
But it’s all so, so worth it.
What Happened When I Started to Believe in Abundance
For 10 years, I called myself a side-hustler. Dabbling in photography, blogging, a little bit of coaching.
But I completely lacked abundance. I always found some excuse for why it wouldn’t work for me to grow.
Why I shouldn’t spend the money to learn more because I wouldn’t make it back anyway, or I didn’t have enough time to commit to doing it “right.”
And I definitely talked myself out of things for not knowing where to start.
And so I didn’t. I didn’t grow and I didn’t actually take it seriously, so hardly anyone else took me seriously either.
The moment I checked that attitude at the door and committed to an abundance mindset was the moment I actually started to see my vision come to life.
I’m still, and always will be, seeing new things revealed from my choice to believe that I CAN do the things of my dreams.
All it takes to start the journey towards a simplified and more fulfilling life is believing that you deserve more. That you deserve margin in your day.
A warm bath after the kids go to bed. A moment of silence on the porch outside in the sun. A healthy bank account. Hot freaking coffee! Whatever it is that you need at any given time.
Without rushing to the next meeting, forgetting to move the clothes to the dryer for the third night in a row, putting yourself dead last behind all the things that don’t actually matter.
You’ve got this, mama.
I know these things are on your heart mama, or you wouldn’t still be listening.
You CAN have it all. It might look different than you ever expected. It might involve a lot of resistance. Your family might need to make some shifts too.
But it’s so freakin’ worth it. No, this isn’t “just a season” and yes, you absolutely deserve more.
This whole journey begins with simply knowing that YOU’RE worth it and that abundance is exactly what you need it to be.
My Favorite Abundance Mindset Strategy
Well, you know the drill by now, don’t you? This is the part where I let you in on the big movers and shakers that will jump start your forward momentum.
You’ve absorbed so much content in the last few episodes, so for this one, I’m gonna leave you with a single idea that’ll change your life if you choose to adopt it.
This idea, called “The Model,” comes from Brooke Castillo of the Life Coach School.
It’s an amazing way to hack our thoughts and reframe our actions.
It begins with our circumstances, which trigger a thought.
Our thoughts are constantly running through our minds – consciously or subconsciously. I know my inner monologue is working 24/7, so I’m always FULL of thoughts.
Those thoughts create feelings. Sometimes those feelings are positive and other times, they’re negative.
In the next level, our feelings create actions. Good habits or bad, what matters is the prior steps that led here.
Finally, you get your results from those actions. And those results reinforce your initial thoughts.
So why is this the action item for Abundance?
Knowing how to “hack” your thought pattern is the KEY to overcoming negative thoughts that lead to remaining stuck in poor habit loops. In particular, the loop of staying in your comfort zone, which may or may not actually be all that comfortable.
I’ll give you an example.
I’m a mom, which is my circumstance. I keep thinking “there’s never any time for me!” That’s the thought that plays out daily.
Naturally, I begin to feel anger and resentment. So I keep doing ALL the things, but I do them begrudgingly or procrastinate altogether.
Then my result is that everyone’s upset with me and I’ve got a bunch of work piled up, leading back to reinforcing my thought that “there’s never any time for me.”
In the Companion Workbook, you’ll find a simple worksheet to begin ironing out the thoughts you most need to ditch in order to lead a life of abundance, simplicity & productivity. I think you’ll love this last exercise and it’ll lead you through many challenges in the future!
